2024 - ongoing - Director of Girls In Film South Africa

Girls In Film South Africa is an NGO platform that exists to support emerging women/femme/non-binary filmmakers in South Africa. We are an extension of the Girls In Film global network/platform. Our objective is to give access to professional resources, opportunities, and networks to underrepresented filmmakers. A grassroots platform run by filmmakers for filmmakers. We regard anyone working in film or aspiring to work in film - be that an editor; make-up artist; actor; animator; or gaffer - as a part of our community. GIF SA was formed in 2020.

GiF curated a selection of experimental and micro-budget documentaries for the festival to help expand the festival's space to emerging filmmakers. The event was called "Community Shapers: Documentary Shorts”. 

The Encounters South African International Documentary Festival is a documentary film festival that showcases films that challenge established narratives and highlight underrepresented stories. The festival features a variety of events, including Q&As, panel discussions, workshops, and masterclasses. The festival also offers awards to recognize filmmakers who push creative boundaries, including the Adiaha Award, the Al Jazeera Best African and International Documentary Award, and The Refinery Best Edited Film.

2021 - FIFIB - The Bordeaux International Independent Film Festival

The Bordeaux International Independent Film Festival, known as FIFIB, defends world independent cinema and all forms of independence: of spirit, freedom of creation, and innovation. For the past eight years, the festival has benefited from the presence of prestigious representatives of world cinema, artists, and musicians who have come to defend the independence of spirit and creation in Bordeaux.

Cinema Workshop
From 13 to 18 October 2021
A five days workshop with art students from Bordeaux. The objective is to make a short film based on the model of the web-series "Foxy Five", directed by Jabulile, in which 5 women go to war against the patriarchy. Each participant will have to identify something they want to see disappear in society and will make a short film showing how they put it into practice.

THE AFRICA 2020 SEASON takes place throughout the metropolitan and overseas territories through around a hundred artistic, scientific, cultural and educational projects, co-constructed with African civil society. The FIFIB, in discussion with N'Goné Fall, the season's curator, welcomes Jabulile Nadia Newman as part of a focus on women.
